Helping Hands

Serve with the gift of yourself. Genesis and the Orphanages (Casas Hogar) of Baja are in constant need of qualified staff. Be it coordinating learning activities, care giving or management administration, there is a place where we can benefit from your life experience. Short and long term volunteers make perhaps the greatest impact on the lives of these children. Genesis has the relationships and knowledge to place an approved individual or couple in a Casa Hogar that needs them which also helps Genesis meet it’s mission. If you are interested in volunteering please fill out our forms below:

Volunteers are primarily responsible for raising their support for personal needs in Mexico. But, in many cases, the orphanage supplements the costs of consumable goods, utilities and housing. Genesis will be there to assist your efforts in every way possible. As a safeguard for the children we serve, all volunteers are subject to screening through Megan’s law and Good Citizen checks. If interested, contact us!

The following is a list of our volunteer programs:

Short-term opportunities: Volunteer opportunities are available for qualified students or individuals with related vocational objectives. You will be placed at a Casa Hogar or within a Genesis facility to gain valuable real-world experience in the needs of the children and homes. You will be helping with Genesis related administration, field, and/or program duties. These vary according to placement. This could well be the greatest season of your life.

Long-term Placements: This is for individuals or couples that will commit themselves to an orphanage for a minimum of six months. This period is the minimum time necessary to build new relationships, learn about the children, know the facilities, and understand daily needs. Related skills and/or experiences are a must. You will be working directly with the children and orphanage staff. You will also facilitate Genesis activities, act as a spiritual example, be a caregiver and assist the home director. You will make a real difference. These placements are a commitment to a service ministry.

Genesis Coordinator: This person (or couple), as a volunteer Genesis staff member, will assist with daily needs at their site as well as with a number of educational activities. They will also coordinate other enrichment programs in the area. This position may travel (within a given location) enhancing the education of the children by acting as a liaison for Genesis programs. The coordinator maintains and encourages relationships with each site (its directors and staff) as well as those individuals, groups, and organizations that help the children.
